Gardens

We’ve been hanging out with grandparents and got to explore the botanical gardens…it was a hot day…but the kids had so much fun learning about new plants….running through all the sprinklers…and just enjoying the sunshine!

Alabama

After taking a side trip to NC…we spent some time with Nonnie & Grandad, Uncle Brad, Uncle Guy & Aunt Jackie.  We experienced 100+ degrees again…the kiddos got to pick some blueberries and make waffles with Grandad…

4th of July

We enjoyed our fourth of July and headed to the local parade…they don’t have fireworks in Monterey or anywhere even remotely close, so we spent our evening grilling and hanging out with friends.

Pools are closing right after Labor Day so we thought we’d take full advantage of them this weekend.

Fort Macon

We headed out to Atlantic Beach to check out Fort Macon State Park.  We packed lunches, had a picnic lunch overlooking the Beaufort Inlet and then took a tour of the fort.  They even had a demonstration of a musket loading and firing.  Jace wasn’t so sure about that.  He enjoyed the park, but was a little dismayed that there wasn’t a playground.

Sydney loved her first experience at the beach…we crawled all around, ate lots of sand and splashed in the water.

 

Fishing

We headed to Ocracoke this past Wednesday to meet up with some friends.  We took the ferry over, did a little fishing, had lunch, hit the beach and headed back home.  It was a long day, but so much fun.  Jace enjoyed his looking for fish, touching the squid bait, and kept asking to hold the fish clip (aka fishing pole).  So cute.

         

Splash Time

We ended swim lessons with a big splash this week.  A complete 180 from this first week.   Today they finished their lessons going off the diving board…he looked so little up there…

Last Day

Jace had his last day of swim lessons today.  The past two days he did much better, of course it couldn’t have been because I bribed him with a new buzz lightyear, but nevertheless he did much better than the beginning of the week.   Hopefully we can take a few more lessons when we get back at the end of July. 

Fun With Mimi & Cousin Nate

This past week Jason's mom and nephew flew in for a few days. Jace had a lot of fun getting to know his cousin and hanging out with his Mimi, who he insisted on calling Grandmom the whole time. The weather was rainy all week, but yesterday we finally got some sun and headed to the beach.
